Story
The people rescued by Aaraika often arrive with nothing except the pain of all they have lost. The shelter still mourns the loss of a 65-year-old woman who was rescued from a garbage dump, completely naked and starving, after being repeatedly abused on the streets by men. She was diagnosed with HIV and passed away shortly after, but her final days were at least spent in a clean bed with a warm meal. Right now, 80 people are living in a leaking rented house, where 15 completely bedridden residents require constant care. But the landlord has ordered the shelter to vacate the premises so he can sell the property. Ranjith is trying everything he can to raise funds for a permanent home. For these 80 residents, Aaraika is the only place where they found care after years of being neglected. Losing it would take away the little stability they have finally found.
